THE BASICS:

How does Flex Academies ONE work?


Imagine someone who teaches music lessons, hip hop dancing, soccer or coding coming into your home every weekday to work with your child. While that’s not possible right now, Flex Academies ONE offers the next best thing: Scheduled, online learning experiences from certified instructors in different areas of interest.




What do I need to do on the technology side before the class so that my child is prepared?


Make sure you have reviewed our handy best practices for parents. And, hopefully you can find a quiet space or corner for your child so they can focus on the activity for the full hour.




What if my family, and specifically my child, are new to online enrichment?


Not a problem, our team is here to help and we have an Online Coordinator present at every session. And, to be honest, most of us are new to online enrichment. The concept for Flex Academies ONE was built out of necessity to help parents educate their kids during COVID-19 with schools closed - and - generate income for our trusted providers. We will all learn together as we experience this pandemic together.




Why are you calling this “social” learning?


It’s social because your child will be able to see other children online learning and having fun at the same time. In fact, some of your child’s friends are likely to be in the same classes, laughing, dancing, and moving all together.




Who is teaching the online classes and what are the ages allowed?


All online classes will be taught by Flex Academies certified instructors who have been background checked and are experienced teachers in their fields. Many of them have been part of the Flex Academies family for years. The typical class will be for Prek3 through 6th graders. We do of course ask parents to place their children in the correct age group when you register them.





SAFETY:

What is the role of the Online Coordinator?


Each class will have an Online Learning Coordinator, who is there to welcome students, answer any questions, and make sure that everything runs smoothly. Our Online Coordinator will ensure the safety of each child entering the “virtual room” through two authentication codes.




Why do you ask all the children in the class to appear on camera?


Again, it is about safety for Flex Academies ONE. By seeing the excited and engaged faces of the children, we are 100 percent certain that the students attending our class are the right people to be in the class. Safety is the top priority.




Do I need a passcode to get into the online enrichment classes?


Absolutely you do. This is one of the many steps we take to ensure that the families and children that sign up for our class are the ONLY people who join our classes.




Are all of your providers background checked?


Yes, With Flex Academies ONE, you know that the instructors who are interacting with your kids have been thoroughly screened and background-checked by Flex Academies. That’s a promise that you don’t get with most free, online classes. In fact, each and every provider and their instructors are held to the specific Flex Academies standards regarding background checks and insurance, including presenting proof of a clear background check and clearance in the National Sex Offender Registry.





CLASSES AND REGISTRATION:

How often will classes be offered?


Your child will be able to enroll in multiple classes per day, Monday through Friday, that meet online at scheduled times (all class start times are Eastern time zone). Also, be sure to check back to our schedule quite often as exciting new providers and classes will be added on a daily basis!




Is there a wait list?


Absolutely, we expect the classes to fill up, and quickly. The waitlist will automatically display for parents. To add your name to the waitlist, you will need to download the WIX app.




Will my kindergartener be mixed in with a 5th grader?


Our providers specify exactly the age ranges in their descriptions. Therefore, your child should not be mixed in with the wrong age group since we break them up.




What is the refund, late arrival, and cancellation policy?


8 Hour Class Cancellation Policy: Flex Academies ONE enforces a strict 8 hour class cancellation policy. No changes to your booking 8 hours before the class. Late Arrival Policy: Flex Academies ONE enforces a strict Late Arrival Policy. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your class you will lose your spot. You must be on time to class to properly prepare your working space and test technology. No one will be permitted entry into class 10 minutes or later after starting time. Cancellation Policy: “I understand that this is a month-to-month or weekly Membership Agreement with recurring weekly or monthly membership charges and a 24-hour cancellation policy effective the date of this agreement. I understand and agree to comply in full with the terms and conditions stated in this Terms of Service. I understand I need to email contact@flexone.live 24 hours in advance of my package renewal to officially cancel.”




When do I receive my Zoom invite information?


All Zoom invite information will be sent to the email address on file one hour before the session begins for security purposes. You will be able to log into the class from the email and will also have the option to add the invite to your Google calendar.





COST AND MATERIALS:

Why are you only offering single classes, as opposed to six- or eight-week courses?


Right now, most of the families we have spoken to might have school restart in May or June. Therefore, an eight-week course that was in the middle of the day would not work long-term. For now, we are offering the single classes to help parents. We will be adding the six- to eight-week courses as the demand grows.




What if I want to cancel my packages?


Well, hope you don’t go and continue to enjoy your packages on a weekly basis. That being said, if you do need to cancel, please email contact@flexone.live 24 hours before your package is set to renew and our customer support team will handle it.




Do I need to get materials?


The majority of our materials will be either printable (we will send them ahead of time) or items that you will easily find in your house already. That being said, for some of our music classes an instrument is needed, and that is made clear before you sign up.




Are there scholarships available?


A core principle of the Flex Academies partnership is that all enrichment programming should be open to all students and cost should not be a deterrent. In fact, 100 percent of the students who have requested scholarships have been awarded one to a Flex Academies activity. Scholarships are available both through Flex Academies. All requests are always kept confidential.




I heard on the news about a discount for first responders. I am a first responder on the front lines of COVID-19, can you help my family?

Are we able to tip our instructors and how?


Absolutely! We will present our instructors PayPal and Vemo accounts at the beginning and end of each session. Given the state of the economy and lost jobs, our goal is to ensure our providers and their instructors are compensated as well as possible for their important job.




There are free alternatives online. Why should I pay for Flex Academies ONE?


You’re right, there are many free online classes available to your family. You can put kids in front of a screen to binge watch something for hours on end. But that’s watching, not participating, at a time when you want your kids to be active in the learning process.




Do hours roll over from week to week?


The hours do not roll over from week to week. If you purchase a 10-hour package, those hours will need to be “booked” within seven days. Meaning, your child does not need to take all 10 classes that week, but those hours do need to be added to your schedule within that week.
